Pokhara Theater launched with ‘Sirumairani’

The people of Pokhara have had a years-long dream of establishing a theater in the lake city. Their dream came true on Tuesday, with the launch of Pokhara Theater at Gairapatan, Pokhara. 

House of Representatives member from Kaski-2 Rabindra Adhikari inaugurated the theater. On the occasion, a play called ‘Sirumairani’ was performed by the local artists. 

The play is being staged everyday at 4:45 pm with an additional staging on Saturdays and on holidays at 1:00 pm till February 26. The ticket to the theater costs Rs 500 and Rs 200 for adults and Rs 100 for students. 

‘Sirumairani’, penned by Saru Bhakta, chancellor of Nepal Music and Drama Academy, is being performed by known artists of Pokhara including Prakash Ghimire, Maotse Gurung, Bishnu Gautam, Dhan Bahadur Gayak. Along with them, Dil Gurung, Ramesh Babu Timilsina, Anju Dahal, Laxman Dumre, Babita Malla, Prasuna Bhandari, Sima Gurung, Sachin Giri, Sarad Bhandari, Dhurba Paudel, Abhiraj BC, Surya Subedi, Samjhana Sirpali, and Bishwa Raj Paudel are playing supporting roles in the drama. 

The play is directed by Somnath Khanal and organized by Paribartan, chairperson of Pokhara Theater.
