Paleti to resume from Friday

Paleti to resume from Friday

Nepa~laya’s micro event series, Paleti is set to resume after an interval. The first show of this series will be held this Friday. Paleti series was first organized by Nepa~laya in 2005 with the aim of presenting solo performances of music practitioners of yesteryears. Since then around 50 musical icons of Nepali music have graced the Paleti stage. Paleti is credited by musician and music critiques as an attempt to resurrect and rejuvenate the elder generation of Nepali Music.

According to a press statement released by Nepa~laya Paleti had been a regular musical event organized during the last Friday of the Gregorian month. From February 22nd onwards, Paleti will be staged at its regular venue, Nepa~laya’s ‘r’ sala. From the earlier one-day event, this will now extend to the whole weekend. The concept of multiple shows has been initiated due to limited space and greater interest amongst music enthusiasts.

“Paleti was organized with the aim of presenting and archiving a generation of musicians in mind, which we have almost accomplished. With these shows, Paleti did not remain a mere musical event, it also became a place for music lovers to gather and celebrate Nepali music.” Said Paleti coordinator, Aavaas. “With request from such music lovers, we are now resuming Paleti, but with some modification in presentation. We now plan to include various theme connected to Nepali music in addition to the solo shows as before.” He added.

As the first theme-based show, the coming Paleti will delve into Women of Nepali Music and celebrate their contribution. The show has been titled – “Celebrating Women in Nepali Music.” The show will be narrated by scholar of music, Aavaas and presented by Paleti’s very own Meena Niraula. Ticket booking can be done through Paleti’s social media pages and through Nepalaya. Online booking and purchase can also be made through www.thrupai.com
