Formation of parliamentary panel to investigate Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane is NC’s bottom line

KATHMANDU, April 8: The Nepali Congress (NC) has announced its demand to form a parliamentary inquiry committee to investigate Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane as the bottom line of the party.

NC General Secretary Gagan Thapa said that a meeting held on Monday morning of former and current NC office-bearers decided not to backtrack on the party’s demand to form a parliamentary inquiry committee to investigate Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane. "We are ready to openly discuss the jurisdiction of the parliamentary inquiry committee," said NC General Secretary Thapa, "It is a general demand to form a parliamentary inquiry committee. Our stance is that the government should act responsibly on this matter.”

Thapa further highlighted that there was consensus among top-level officials regarding the formation of the parliamentary inquiry committee.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire has summoned party leaders for a meeting at 2:30 PM to discuss NC's demand for the parliamentary inquiry committee. NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak are expected to participate in the meeting.
