Visual Artist Bidhata KC's solo painting exhibition 'Volume IV: Structural Beauty' is on display at Dalai-la Art Space, Dalai-la, Thamel since August 2.

In the exhibition, six of Bidhata's paintings are showcased where she explores the meaning behind the structural beauty of Mustang. She has painted houses and landmarks of Mustang. About her paintings, she explains, “I saw beautiful white mud houses with cracks along with drippings of colors such as yellow, green, red, etc, white walls and five colored flags place at the corner of the house, among others. And when I delved into these architectural details, I figured out, without these architectures Mustang’s culture will disappear and these structures are giving Mustang its unique identity. And motifs for my artworks come in my mind spontaneously. I don’t force myself while choosing motifs.”

Bidhata has been showcasing the theme of architectural beauty intertwined with history, culture and religion of Mustang since, her visit to Mustang few years ago. Before, that she consistently used leaves as her major motif in her painting, comparing their characteristics with life in general.

According to her, her artworks always seek for either her own identity or the identity of socially/culturally important issues, which she explains, "Art for me is my way of visual expression. And art gives me voice to portray about things that I am not vocal about. And visuals for me are the best way to communicate about my thoughts. However, I am still evolving and as time passes by, my motifs are also evolving.”

Bidhata who used to search, her own being using the motif of leaves, these days have shifted to the architectural motifs that carries the identity of a place and people living in that area.
