Miss World Nepal 2019 Anushka Shrestha showed confidence in the first round of the competition for Head to Head challenge held in London. A video interview was premiered on Saturday on YouTube.

In the first round, the contestants were asked to explain about their introduction video and Beauty with a Purpose (BASP) project.

Lauding about the magnificent background in her introduction video, Anushka said, “Taking the introduction video, I felt like I explored myself while I was exploring the country, we really tried to show my story against the magnificent backdrops of Nepal especially in line of visit Nepal year 2020. We travelled far and wide with a small team. It was quite a project and we are very proud of the outcome.”

Further explaining about her BASP project, Anushka informed that it is about capability development. This year’s BASP project is based on a remote village in Sindhupalchok where there are around 140 households.

According to her, the project focuses on the mother and child, each from these families. Anushka added, “We are pushing a kick start on the education side of things providing scholarships adding more teachers, teaching materials, and teaching trainings. But, understanding that, this project in itself funded by a donation won’t be sustainable, hence, we are trying to make their parents enable, be active income generators. We have taken skills and markets such as carpet making, weaving and what not, so that ultimately they can fund their children’s education.”

Anushka has garnered much appreciation for the introduction video having more than a million views. If she wins this challenge, she can secure a direct entry into the Top 30. For the challenge, she is placed in Group 10 and is competing with representatives from Tanzania, Gibraltar, Poland, Mexico and Cayman Islands. One contestant from each group will directly qualify for the second round of Head to Head challenge.
