Javed Akhtar celebrated his 75th birthday with two Bollywood style bashes that saw his family and closest friends in attendance. The birthday boy had the time of his life partying it up with a retro theme party that was followed with a formal bash which saw the men suiting up and the ladies donning some fashionable ensembles.

While several Bollywood stars sent out warm birthday greetings, fans also joined in to send him their best wishes on social media.

Among the many messages of appreciation that came in, was one by Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan, who shared a post highlighting Javed's great sense of humour. Also thanking him for being a great guide, support and inspiration, Hrithik tweeted, "Met Javed uncle. He said, “it is the first time somebody is turning 75yrs at such a young age.” Classic! You are amazing. Thank you for being a guide, support n inspiration in my life. Love you. Happy birthday @Javedakhtarjadu"
