House passes condolence motion on lawmaker Pandey’s demise

KATHMANDU, Nov 16: A meeting of the Legislature-Parliament on Wednesday observed a minute of silence on the demise of late lawmaker Bhakti Prasad Pandey.

The House also endorsed a condolence motion on Pandey’s passing and slated the next meeting for Friday afternoon.

CPN (Maoist Center) lawmaker Pandey, who had been suffering from lung cancer, passed away in the course of treatment at Nepal Cancer Hospital in Lalitpur on November 13.  He was 62.

Pandey had been elected to the Constituent Assembly from Rupandehi under the proportional representation system in 2070 BS.

Pandey had started his political career from Pushpalal-led Communist Party of Nepal in 2027 BS.

He had become a central member of the then CPN (Maoist) in 2057 BS.
