Know MoreSukhawati Store Foundation—a NGO based in Kathmandu has organized a week long educational awareness event ‘HOPE’ awareness in Machaapchere and Lachok rural municipality in Kaski district recently. The core objective of this event was to prevent students from dropping out school, migrate from village to city and make them aware about the miserable life of street children in the city.
The event ‘HOPE’ included filling up questionnaires, interaction, games session and showing documentary video about street children. The program was successfully conducted at 13 schools in six villages of Lachok Municipality Kaski. There were approximately 534 participants including teachers and students.
‘This event was much needed in our school as every year many students leave school without reaching grade 9. This is a common problem especially with girls. However, there should be such programs targeting to parents as well,” said Muna Gurung, teacher at Shree Bom Bahadur Basic School, Ghalel.
