Gearing up for second season of ‘Mt Everest Fashion Runway’

KATHMANDU

Endemol Shine India, a leading content production company, has partnered with Nepal’s K Films and ME 2 Films to jointly produce the second season of the world’s highest altitude fashion show — Mt. Everest Fashion Runway.

According to a press statement released by Endemol Shine India, the fashion show will begin in September 2021 which will be organized at an altitude of over 5,800 meters in the Mt Everest region in -30-degreeC temperature and less than 50% oxygen present in the atmosphere.

The much-loved Season 1 of the show,  took place at the Kalapatthar in the Everest Base Camp in January last year, was themed around climate change and created a lot of buzz with its range of sustainable fashion showcased by participants from 18 countries. Nepal was also awarded a new Guinness World Record for hosting the ‘Highest Altitude Fashion Show’ on land ever.

The fashion show is the brainchild of Pankaj K Gupta, CEO of K FIlms who is also mentoring the contestants walking up the Everest, and is organized by Ramila Nemkul, the COO of K FIims and Riken Maharjan, the CFO of K Films. The series is being directed by Shruti Anindita Vermaa and Amitabh S Verma of ME 2 Films.

It added that the new season will take the message of sustainable living a notch higher as the expedition will promote the use of organic and biodegradable fabrics, focus on saving more than 50,000+ liters of water in the Himalayan region by using water-less technology for bathing and washing clothes and also plant trees to neutralize the carbon footprint left behind by the event with the help of the environmental researchers.

“At Endemol Shine India, we’re always striving to surprise our audiences with thrilling, entertaining and out-of-the-box television viewing experiences that drive home an important global message. We are excited to partner on this vision with K Films of Nepal and ME 2 FILMS for Season 2 of Mt Everest Fashion Runway.  We hope the audiences enjoy this unprecedented coming together of fashion and adventure shot in the lap of the beautiful Himalayas,” the press statement quoted Abhishek Rege, CEO, Endemol Shine India.
