Finding happiness in family

Finding happiness in family

Bhim Bahadur Chauhan is 46 years old and a porter. Originally from Ramechhap, he moved to Kathmandu in 2058 BS.

He started his life in the capital city working as a security guard. He kept the job for nine years before leaving for Saudi Arabia in search of better pay. There, he used to work as a manual labourer at a construction site.

After having worked there for around three years, he decided to return to Nepal due to harsh temperature and working conditions. “I couldn’t stay in Saudi Arabia for long because I missed my family a lot. I don’t have any regrets to be working as porter because at least I am home,” he shares. Bhim believes that real happiness lies in being with family rather than in earning big bucks. A father of two, Bhim says he is happy to see his children doing well in their education.  “I wish they’d never stop studying.”
