‘Faatsung’ addressing Gorkhaland conflict launches

Indian writer, Chuden Kabimo launched a novel titled ‘Faatsung’ amid a special event organized on Friday in Kathmandu. The novel was jointly released by Kabimo, veteran writer Khagendra Sangraula and writer Bhushita Vasistha. Kabimo has talked about the ongoing conflict of Gorkhaland in India and its background information in the book.

Speaking at the event, Vasistha expressed that the book reminded her of her childhood days and added, “Language and revolution has a deep relation between each other. And literature plays an important role to create awareness among public. In some cases, revolution could not happen due to lack of awareness. Meanwhile, book like ‘Faatsung’ functions as a medium to create awareness where it deals with the ongoing issue of Gorkhaland.”

Similarly, writer Sangraula stated that though the book focused a political issue in India, it also touched Nepali political scenario.

Reminiscing about the first strike held in 1983 in Darjeeling for the separate state as Gorkhaland, Kabimo shared, “Hundreds of people have lost their lives in Gorkhaland revolution. However, their dreams are yet to be fulfilled. And in the book ‘Faatsung’ I have highlighted their dream of having a separate state called Gorkhaland.”

FinePrints Publication has published the book and is priced Rs 300.
