Cruelty as seen on TikTok (With Video)

A video of a man throwing away a white dog from a hill was uploaded on TikTok. The dog died. As soon as the video went viral on July 13, the animal rights activists lodged a complaint at the District Police Office, Kaski. While investigating, it has been revealed that Subash Nepali, 19, of Pokhara threw the dog and was killed.

During the investigation, it was found that other people have also been involved in the act. Meanwhile, in the statement Nepali told the police that it was his aunt’s (Thulo Aama) sick dog, so he threw it.

Talking about the punishment for the guilty, Sneha Shrestha, President of Federation of Animal Welfare Nepal (FAWN) informed, “According to the Muluki Ain Nepal 2074, the perpetrators of animal violence are liable to imprisonment for up to three months and a fine of up to Rs 5,000. His aunt and the person who made the video may also be guilty in the incident.”

She added, “Killing an animal is sheer cruelty and such action won’t be decreased as Nepal has not yet formed an Animal Welfare Act and we are consistently forcing the concerned bodies for it.” According to her, lack of awareness and ignorance has resulted in such scenarios. Then, the government has also failed to include animal rights in its curriculum. Shrestha shared, “In our curriculum only the advantages of animals are taught such as we get meat, milk, egg, etc from them. But it lacks educating children that animals too have feelings and they also need to eat, drink and we should love them.”
