Centenarian Chepang no more

LAMJUNG, Nov 21: A 106 – year – old member of the Chepang community passed away on Sunday. 

The death of Buddhi Bahadur Chepang has plunged the Chepang community in Chitti area into mourning. The Chepang community, which is an endangered community, is particularly famous in the district. The residents of the district have been saddened by the death of a centenarian Chepang. 

Buddhi Bahadur had become weak in the past few months. He had been felicitated on a number of occasions in the district and had the privilege of inaugurating the Model Community Hospital at Sundar Bazaar. 

The Chepang community has been living at Barbotbesi and Hiletaksar villages of the district. The Chepangs earn a living by cutting grass at the landlords' residences in the villages for three months and doing manual work for nine months. RSS
