20 Million Budget for NEFA
A new award function is being added to the Nepali film fraternity. Nepali Film Award (NEFA) was announced to be held in November amid a special event held in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
Film Development Board, Tourism Board, and Kathmandu Metropolitan City are collaborating for the award that will be organized by Balamifilm Entertainment and Nefa Media Group. According to the press statement issued by the organizers, a budget of around 20 million will be invested for the award. The statement further reads that the award will promote internal tourism through Nepali culture, tradition, and authenticity. Organizers informed around RS 5 million will be used to construct a stage for the award that is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu.
President of Balami Film Entertainment, Samir Balami stated that the event will go on to become a prestigious film award in Nepal. Various categories of the award will include different artists ranging from debut artist to the veteran ones. It is estimated that around 10 thousand audience will attend the award show. Five categories of the award will be judged by the audience vote. Likewise, 14 other categories will be judged by the jury. Each award (medal) will be made up of 350 to 500 grams of silver.
There are two major categories of the award- popular and best. Popular award include sub categories like film, actor, actress, and singer. Likewise, best award include sub categories like film, director, actor, actress, and debut actor. Jury members of the first edition of the award are director Aakash Adhikari, director Fulmaan Bal, cinematographer Bishnu Kalpit, actor Sarita Lamichhane and director Anup Baral.
