Among a slew of Indian faces that walked the ramp at Milan and Paris Fashion Week earlier this year was a boy from Delhi, who took to the global ramp by storm. 24-year-old Saurabh Chaudhary walked the ramp for Dolce & Gabbana and Giorgio Armani and realised his dream of strutting on the International runway. In an exclusive fashion shoot with us, he shares his journey and experience. Saurabh began his modelling career in the year 2017 and started off his journey with a Delhi-based agency that promotes diverse faces in fashion. During his initial days in modelling, he would go for casting in Delhi and got a chance to work with some prominent names in fashion. Chaudhary also had that desire to see himself walk for International designers and make it to Paris and Milan. He soon changed his modelling agency and through his mother agency Inega, he was placed with PRM, a London-based agency.

The latest sneakers collection launch of Balenciaga includes 100 pairs of limited edition sneakers which are extra destroyed. These sneakers which look worn out, to say the least, are selling online in Europe, with the United States and Middle East stores following suit on May 16, and Japan on May 23. According to the brand, these sneakers are a retooled classic design that interprets mid-century athleticism and timeless casual wear in black, white, or red, with a white rubber sole and toe with distressed canvas and rough edges, affecting a pre-worn look.

All that “gilded glamour” brought in some real gold. This year’s Met Gala earned a record $17.4 million, museum officials said Tuesday. The annual gala is a fundraiser for the self-funding Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The money pays for operating the institute and putting on annual blockbuster exhibits like the current “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” which was launched at the gala Monday night and opens to the public on May 7. That exhibit is part of a broader two-part exhibit exploring the roots of American fashion.

London-based designer, Shakila Thebe, who recently post-graduated MA from Central Saint Martins and studied BA at London College of Fashion(2017) has organized a one-day free workshop called “The Open Workshop” with a fellowship of her collaborate and promoter Nawal Rai from Parcha Productions at Botanist, Kathmandu on 1st May. The workshop conducted was 6 hours long, from 10 am to 3 pm. The workshop with small funding fees was designed to bring all the fashion students as well as professionals to partake and participate in one space so as to obtain some insights, and knowledge and to equally share their own creative ideas. Shakila relaunched her brand through the CSM MA collection amid the lockdown in 2022. Shakila calls her seminal collection “Disrupted Immigrant” because she considers it to be a visual celebration of a dislocated immigrant, focusing on the juxtaposition between pre-existing clothes and the ephemeral nature of diaspora identities.
