Her daily routine involves visiting the Kalimati vegetable market early in the morning in order to buy raw corn for cheap. After collecting corn, she settles down at her corner at Baber Mahal Height in the afternoon and treats her customers. The bitter truth of life

The bitter truth of life

- by Shikha Bahety

I have been hearing a lot of discourse between family members and listening to the Bhagavad Gita; because of this, I have been learning a lot and have been enlightened every day. These discussions try to provide answers to the questions that I have been enquiring about life and death. They also answer questions about the structure of the universe that connects individuals and their disconnection in the end. Why does God call all the good people so soon? What is the ultimate goal of a human? How the body that we are living is not ours and how the soul stays eternal which takes form in different bodies? How is one eligible for Mokshya in their life and why does something like this happen to a person who is composed, and has always been a part of good Karma? Why do we believe that life is in our hands, while we are mere puppets?

The one woman led women centric startup

- by Sanghamitra Subba

A simple desire to help the women in her community and to open a company that produces environment friendly products led Stuti Thapa to establish My Earth Eco Bags in 2015. Deviating from her original path of social sciences, Thapa decided to venture into the world of entrepreneurship to establish a brand that supported and uplifted women. As CEO and founder of the company, Thapa helps marginalized women make environment friendly, stylish and 100 percent plastic free cloth bags. With no investors, stakeholders or co-owners, Thapa began with a personal investment of 2.5 lakh rupees. The company started with a bang as their first order called for ten thousand bags. But this achievement also came with issues that no entrepreneur ever expects to  face in the initial years of their startup, an economic blockade. But even with insufficient manpower, minimal fuel and extended deadlines, Thapa and her group managed to overcome their hurdles, and completed their task.

Birgunj mornings at roadside tea stalls

Birgunj mornings at roadside tea stalls

- by Ritesh Tripathi

BIRGUNJ: Brewing and drinking tea started thousands of years ago in China. It came to Nepal only a few hundred years ago but embedded itself quickly into Nepali culture. Nepali tea grown in Illam and Jhapa has become popular in both national and international markets. Many tea bars have started opening up all across the country where people drink tea to a myriad of conversation topics. Birgunj is no different. If you go around Mahabirsthan or Adarswaisthan Mainroad during the early mornings, you can see a cluster of tea shops on footpath catering to the need of their early-rising customers. These tiny shops have become hubs for critical chitchat amongst the locals.
