UML's Rs 10 lakh relief assistance for Taplejung fire victims

KATHMANDU, March 25: The CPN-UML has decided to provide Rs 10 lakh relief assistance to the victims of the Taplejung fire on Wednesday.

A Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the party held today decided to this effect, Yogesh Bhattarai, UML Secretary, informed through twitter.

"UML SC decided to provide Rs 10 lakh to the Taplejung fire victims from the party central fund," tweets leader Bhattarai.

A massive fire at Phungling Bazaar, the Taplejung district headquarters, had destroyed four dozen buildings, including those housing three government offices and half a dozen non-governmental organizations on Monday evening.





Property worth Rs 30 crore was destroyed in the incident. However, no human casualties were reported.

The fire was finally contained after 14 hours at around 9 am on Tuesday.
