The tragedy occurred in Mundu and Sindum villages of Langtang inside the Langtang National Park (LNP). As the avalanche and snowstorm completely damaged VSAT-telephones, the CDO office in Dhunche, the district headquarters of Rasuwa, learnt about the incident only on Friday.
Kami Tamang Lopchan, a resident of Langtang-1, was killed along with his seven months old daughter in the avalanche. Lopchan´s another daughter, who is 13, has a broken hand. She has been taken to Dhunche, two days walk from the village, by locals and police, who could reach the affected village only Friday.
"Snowstorms are frequent in the Langtang region," said Shrestha. "However, it is the deadliest snowstorm in two years." Although the damaged telephone network has been repaired, power supply was not restored in Langtang till Saturday. The displaced families are expecting relief.
