Three arrested over two separate murder cases

BHAKTAPUR, March 26: Police arrested one suspect today for allegedly murdering a man near the parking area of ​​a picnic spot in Bode Nilbarahi, Madhyapur Thimi-9, on March 23.


A joint team from the Bhaktapur District Police Office and the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office apprehended 57-year-old Himal Budha Magar, a resident of Bode, originally from Parivartan Rural Municipality-6, Rolpa, for allegedly killing 66-year-old Om Prakash Rai, a resident of Bode, originally from Kopilas Gandhi Rural Municipality-2, Khotang.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dhundiraj Neupane of Bhaktapur Police stated that Budha Magar confessed to the crime, admitting that he attacked Rai with a stone after Rai forcibly took Rs 100 from him and refused to return it. Police secured a court order to extend his custody for further investigation.


Meanwhile, police arrested two individuals today for allegedly beating 32-year-old Laxman Khadka to death on March 11 along the Radhakrishna road section leading to Magargaun, Madhyapur Thimi-2.


After doctors confirmed that Khadka died from the assault, the police launched an investigation. Based on their findings, they arrested 39-year-old Yadav Paudel from Lalbandi Municipality-9, Sarlahi, and 24-year-old Anish Tamang from Chakamke, Tinpatan Rural Municipality-3, Sindhuli.


Police obtained a five-day custody extension to continue the investigation, DSP Neupane said.
