SPORTS BRIEFS: Agrawal clinch U-15 title

KATHMANDU, March 26: Manav Agrawal clinched the U-15 boys´ title of NGA Junior Golf Tournament scoring 24 points at the RNGC on Saturday.



Agrawal edged Suryans Chaudhary, who earned 19 stableford points. [break]



Likewise, Sonam Gyalmo Ongdi saw off Sangay Gyalmo Ongdi to win U-15 girls championship. Sonam scored 24 points while Ongdi earned 19. Saurav Joshi (seven) beat Srizan Nagarkoti to claim the U-10 boys´ title. Joshi scored seven and Nagarkoti four points. Aditi Ghimire won the most birdies award.



Dhimal Mister Morang


BIRATNAGAR: Bikash Dhimal on Saturday won the title of Second Mister Morang 2067 organized by Morang Body Building and Fitness Association. Dhimal of Metallic Gym, Urlabari, finished ahead of Indra Sapkota of Elite Gym. Similarly, Pawan Kumar Chaudhary of of Rabi Gym, Roshan Dhimal of Metallic and Moltibabu Paswan of Rabi secured third to fifth spots respectively. The top five body builders bagged a purse of Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively. Morang CDO Suresh Adhikari gave away the prizes to the winners. Altogether 18 players had contested in the event.



Chakravarti leads rating chess


KATHMANDU: Sudipt Chakravarti continued his dominance after the completion of the fifth round matches of Our Housing Cup Second Ram Bir Shrestha Memorial Rating Chess Tournament with 4.5 points lead on Saturday. Chakravarti defeated defending champion Uttam Raj Thapa in the fourth round and shared half point with Fide Master Manish Hamal in the fifth. Former Nepal champion Keshav Shrestha, Manish Hamal, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, Shyam Shrestha and Rajan Puri are jointly second with four points each. Niraj Niraula, Rabindra Shakya, Badrilal Nepali, Ganesh Man Shakya and Bijay Dangol are in the third place with 3.5 points each.


New Era, Khumaltar into final


KATHMANDU: New Era Sports Club and Khumaltar Youth Club have confirmed their final spot from group ´B´ in the Martyrs Memorial C Division qualifiers on Saturday. New Era beat Dynamite Youth club 5-4 in the penalty shoot-out while Khumaltar edged past Painachal Football Club 1-0 in the matches played at ANFA complex Satdobato, Lalitpur. After the regular time ended in 1-1 draw, New Era scored four of the spot kicks for the win. New Era´s keeper barred Nabin Kumar Chaudhary and Ashok Kumar Chaudhary from scoring from the spot to steer his team to victory. In another match, a lone goal from Suraj Raut sent Khumaltar into the final. Similarly, in other matches Jhamsikhel Youth Club defeated Risheshowr Youth Club 2-1 while Everest Football Centre overcame Bhuwal Dada Football Club 5-3 in the penalty shoot-out.
