SPORTS BRIEF: Double delight for Nobel

KATHMANDU: Nobel Academy won the titles of senior boys´ and girls´ sections in the First Olympia Cup, inter-school basketball tournament Saturday. Nobel thrashed United 51-15 in senior boys´ final and edged past Bagmati 15-6 in senior girls´ final played on the court of the host Olympia World School, Babarmahal, Kathmandu. Meanwhile, Wilson defeated Neric ´A´ 28-25 to clinch the title of junior boys´ section while Bidyadayini upset host Olympia 11-2 to lift junior girls´ category. Pasang Tsering Sherpa of Little Angels, Eva Malla of Nobel, Sunil Khatri of Wilson and Aarati Dahal of Bidyadayini received the most valuable player awards respectively in senior boys´, senior girls, junior boys´ and junior girls´ categories.



Sindhu FC in QF



KATHMANDU: Sindhu Football Club defeated Sherpa Youth Multi Vision, Ramechhap 1-0 on Saturday to reach the quarterfinal of the Third Sherpa Lhosar Cup, football tournament. Burja Gurung scored the lone goal of the match for Sindhu. Sindhu will take on Makalu Sherpa Youth Club in quarterfinals.





Mahendra Ratna, NCC reach QF



KATHMANDU: Mahendra Ratna Campus and Nepal Commerce Campus (NCC) secured quarterfinal berths in the Madan Bhandari Cup, valley-wide inter college men´s volleyball tournament. Mahendra Ratna received walkover from Patan Campus and NCC thrashed TU 25-9, 25-15 on Saturday. Likewise, Public Youth Campus defeated Saraswati Campus 28-26, 19-25, 25-19 and Baneshwar edged past Sano Thimi 25-18, 25-18 in the other matches of the tournament organized by Madan Bhandari Sports Academy. Meanwhile, Ratna Rajya beat Saraswati 25-23, 25-18 as Tri-Chandra received walkover from Amrit Science Campus.



Pushpa Sadan wins football match


KATHMANDU: Pushpa Sadan and Kathmandu Valley won their respective matches on Saturday in the Fourth valley-wide Inter School Junior Boys´ knockout Football Tournament organized by Loyalty Academy, Mandikhatar, Kathmandu. Pushpa Sadan defeated Rosebud 4-3 and Kathmandu Valley beat GEMS 2-1.
