Krishna and his wife Tara were placed on a single funeral pyre, Baburam and his wife Sharada on another and Kamala on yet another pyre while the seven-year-old was buried as per the Hindu tradition.
The funeral pyre of Krishna and Tara was lit by their surviving son Sitaram, that of Baburam and wife by their 12-year-old son Sagar and Kamala´s by her father-in-law, according to Narayan Katuwal, a neighbor.
“The cremation process was delayed with everybody in the funeral procession devastated by tragedy and it finally ended at around 6:30 in the evening,” Praksah Basnet, who was in the procession, said.
The accident had occurred when the driver tried to take a turn after suddenly waking up from his sleepy stupor after hitting the stones piled by the roadside.
