The event also acknowledged the services of and gave a farewell to the outgoing former young ambassador, Malina Joshi, Miss Nepal 2011.[break]
“It’s been a good experience for me. I got to visit a lot of places and work with a lot of people,” said Joshi. “This opportunity also helped me to expand my knowledge. For this, I’m thankful,” she added.

The Young Ambassador program started in 2004. Since then, it’s been continued with a new Miss Nepal as an ambassador every year. WWF Young Ambassadors work to convey the values of conservation throughout the world in an attempt to discourage poaching while protecting wildlife.
“I’m going to absorb all the knowledge I can and I’ll promote this initiative because it’s for a noble cause,” said Shrestha. “It’ll be a good experience and I’m looking forward to it,” she added.
“Malina did a fine job. People say we exploit the glamour of people who are Miss Nepal but brain and beauty help the conservation work successfully and it helps to promote community awareness,” said Ghana Gurung, WWF Program Director of Nepal. “We hope that Shristi will do even better in her new calling,” he concluded.
