Shilpee's documentary screened at NTB

KATHMANDU, July 9: “Yatra,” a play presented by Shilpee Art Group three months ago has been made into a documentary and it was screened on July 7 at Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in Kathmandu.



The play was performed in 21 districts from the Mechi and Mahakali regions and the Tarai,” said actor Jiwan Baral who was also a part of the play.[break]



The documentary, called “Journey into Theatre,” is directed by Mohan Rai while Ramesh Dhamala is the cinematographer.



The documentary captures the play which was staged at the Shaili Theatre, and also shows how the audience liked the play. Running to 46 minutes, “Journey into Theatre” also has clippings of the enjoyable moments that actors shared in the rehearsals leading to the play’s performance.



At the same event, before the documentary was shown, the first edition of “Shilpee” magazine was also launched by Abhi Subedi.



The magazine is to be published as a quarterly with Ghimire Yubaraj as the editor-in-chief and Chandra Prasad as the editor. It will contain interviews of stage actors, articles on various plays being performed in Nepal, and even articles contributed by theater artistes.



Art personalities, such as Ashesh Malla, Shiva Rijal, and Ramesh Ranjan Jha extended their best wishes for Shilpee.
