BANKE, Nov 23: RPP General Secretary Dr Dhawal Samsher Rana has been elected. Dr Rana got 29,577 votes.
Chief Electoral Officer Dhansingh Mahara said that Rana was elected by defeating former minister Mohammad Ishtiaq Rai who was a candidate of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) by a margin of 6,057 votes. Rai got 23,520 votes.

He said that Rana, who received the most votes, was elected as a member of the House of Representatives. Rana was elected by the final result of the counting of votes which continued for two days. Similarly, Sudipnar Singh Rana of Nepali Congress has got 4,403 votes. Similarly, Binod Kumar Agrahari of Rastriya Swatantra Party has received 1,333 votes.
In that area, RPP General Secretary Rana was supported by CPN-UML, while a five-party alliance including the Nepali Congress put forward Sudin Narsingh Rana. Rana had previously served as the mayor of Nepalgunj twice.
