Police bust racket involved in motorcycle theft in Bardibas

Police arrested four gang members, including the chief planner, from various locations in Sarlahi and Rautahat districts.

KATHMANDU, June 17: The police have arrested an organized gang involved in a series of motorcycle thefts in Bardibas, Mahottari.


The Bardibas Area Police Office conducted a special operation and arrested four individuals, including the gang’s chief planner. Along with them, police recovered four stolen motorcycles and a "master key" used in the thefts. Motorcycle thefts began occurring in Bardibas and surrounding areas, including hospital parking lots and even in front of the Sub Inspector of Police’s house.

As the theft incidents increased, police deployed a special team. During the investigation, on June 15, based on a special tip-off that a stolen motorcycle was being sold, the police uncovered a network ranging from third-level dealers to the main planner of the thefts.


Police arrested four gang members, including the chief planner, from various locations in Sarlahi and Rautahat districts.


Those arrested have been identified as Pasang Titung, 26, from Bagmati Rural Municipality, Makwanpur; Suresh Ghising, 22, from Bagmati Municipality, Sarlahi; Padam Thing, 21, from the same municipality; and Dil Bahadur Singdong from Harion Municipality-10. They were arrested from different locations, police said.


According to the Bardibas APO, the gang had been operating around Bardibas for a long time. All arrested individuals are currently held at the APO and further investigation into the theft cases is ongoing, police added.
