KATHMANDU, April 27: The District Police Office, Parsa, has recommended filing a case against 41 individuals, including Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, in connection with the fraud and organized crime case related to the Sano Paila Savings and Credit Cooperative in Birgunj, Parsa.
Police concluded their investigation and submitted the report to the District Government Attorney Office (DGAO) in Parsa, on Friday. According to Parsa Police Chief Superintendent of Police (SP) Gautam Mishra, the recommendation includes 30 individuals and 11 institutions or companies as defendants.
Police stated that investigations into two separate cases have been completed and reports have been submitted for further legal action.

According to the police report, in addition to Sano Paila Cooperative, several other entities have also been named as defendants, including Swarnalaxmi Cooperative in Kathmandu, Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara, and various companies such as Gorkha Media Network, Nature Herbs Pvt Ltd, Nature Nest Pvt Ltd, and GB Group of Companies.
Individuals named as defendants include Gitendra Babu Rai (also known as GB), Kumar Ramtel, Hemant Adhikari, Bishal Tamang, Nabin Achhami, Rabina Rimal, Sagar KC, Deepak Lama, Kabita Tamang, and several others.
A total of Rs 2.30 has been demanded in fraud and organized crime cases. Of this, Rs 1.12 is to be recovered from companies and individuals.
The investigation against Lamichhane and others was initiated by Parsa Police following the directive of a parliamentary probe committee. Complaints were filed at different times by 52, 207, and 179 victims, alleging embezzlement of funds from the Sano Paila Cooperative.
Lamichhane and former DIG Chhabi Lal Joshi are currently in Rupandehi prison. Although they had been released on bail by four different district courts, the Butwal bench of the High Court Tulsipur overturned the bail order in the Supreme Cooperative case and ordered them to be remanded in custody.
Based on the police report, the DGAO will now proceed with preparing the case and filing charges in court.
