KATHMANDU, July 30: A total of 1,011 fire incidents have been reported across the country since mid-April, resulting in 15 fatalities and injuries to 144 individuals. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 1,124 households were affected by these fires.
Between mid-April and now, the authority has recorded 2,456 disaster-related incidents. Among them, 243 incidents were caused by lightning, which claimed the lives of 28 people and injured 169. As a result, 283 households were affected by lightning strikes.
Koshi Province reports 488 fire incidents in three months
During the same period, 66 snakebite incidents were reported, leading to eight deaths and injuries to 64 individuals, affecting 73 families. Likewise, 134 incidents of animal attacks have been recorded, leaving 12 people dead and 62 injured, while 206 households were affected.
Twelve individuals also lost their lives due to altitude sickness, and another 12 were killed due to windstorms.
Likewise, 241 landslide incidents have been recorded, resulting in 12 deaths. According to the NDRRMA, windstorms caused 276 incidents, claiming eight lives.
On Tuesday alone, eight incidents of flooding, 16 of landslides, five of fire, and three of animal attacks were reported.
