KATHMANDU, March 17: In a major drug bust in Mahottari district, police on Sunday, arrested an individual who was attempting to smuggle 547 kilograms of cannabis concealed in the modified roof of a mini truck.
According to the District Police Office (DPO), Mahottari, police arrested 37-year-old Salin Magar, permanent resident of Bahrabise Municipality-7, currently residing in Kathmandu's Tokha, at around 5 pm on Sunday for smuggling the contraband.

Upon a regular inspection of a mini truck (Ba.3 Kha 5832) traveling from Sindhuli towards Bardibas, a joint team of police personnel from the Area Police Office, Bardibas, and the Narcotics Control Bureau, found out that the truck's roof had been modified with a false metal bottom and covered with a black tarpaulin to hide 547 kilograms of cannabis in 35 plastic bags.
Spokesperson for the DPO, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Santulal Prasad Jaiswar told Republica that the initial police investiagtion has revealed that the contraband was being smuggled to India. "We are currently pursuing further investigation into the case," he said.
