One arrested for defrauding Rs 3.2 million in UK employment scam

The police have arrested Dinesh Adhikari, 53, on charges of fraud after he promised to send an aspirant to the UK with the lure of an attractive salary in foreign employment.

KATHMANDU, Feb 15: The police have arrested Dinesh Adhikari, 53, on charges of fraud after he promised to send an aspirant to the UK with the lure of an attractive salary in foreign employment.


Adhikari, a resident of Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-3 in Dhading, currently living in Tarkeshwor Municipality-5 in Kathmandu, took Rs 3,257,000 from the victim, claiming to facilitate their employment in the UK.

After losing contact with Adhikari, the victim filed a complaint and a team of officials from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office in Teku arrested Adhikari from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26.


The police have handed him over to the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation and legal action.
