JANAKPUR, Feb 3: Nepali Congress leader and parliamentarian Bimalendra Nidhi argued that his party should have stronger presence in Madhes in order to address concerns of Madhesis.

Addressing the NC's regional convention in Janakpur on Wednesday, Nidhi claimed that his party is the only party in support of Madhes. “Weakening the NC in Madhes under the pretext of the movement is to harm themselves,” he said while urging the protestors to support the party as an ally.

Recalling the victory of his party in five constituencies out of the total seven in Dhanusha district, he claimed “NC is the representative of Madhes, not the Madhesh based parties.” Some Madhes-based parties that have emerged in recent years cannot work for the welfare of Madhesis, he said.

Asserting that the new constitution has already addressed most of the Madhesis' issues, Nidhi assured that the rest of the issues will be sorted out through the amendment once the NC's general convention is over.
