KATHMANDU, May 14: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has opened Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) for 5,000 megawatts of electricity.
In a board meeting held on Tuesday, the NEA opened the PPA for 54 hydropower projects with a total capacity of 4,965 megawatts.
The NEA has stated that it will sign PPA with hydropower projects that have completed their grid connection agreements by February 24.

The board of directors meeting held on the day Hitendra Dev Shakya assumed the post of Managing Director of the NEA decided to conduct a PPA for the project, which has a project grid connection agreement.
The NEA has announced that hydropower projects must submit all necessary documents to its Power Trade Department within 30 days to proceed with the PPA.
Projects are required to include key documents such as the company registration certificate, PAN certificate, company's management letter, company's regulations, industry registration certificate, tax clearance certificate, valid electricity survey license, share investment details, project construction schedule, and the grid connection agreement.
Out of the 54 projects, 38 are based on run-of-river (ROR) systems, while 16 are reservoir-based hydropower projects.
