Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Chautari, Dang chapter in Ghorahi on Thursady, leader Pokharel said the presidential post can be given to the NC if it participates in the government.
"NC can be given the post of President. It should take part in the government," said UML leader Pokharel.
Pokharel remarked that the interest shown by the NC for presidential post is a positive sign toward creating environment conducive for a consensus government.
Dismissing the media reports that UML has already confirmed leader Bidhya Bhandari as the candidate for the post of president, Pokharel clarified that Bhandari's name has just been proposed to address the voice of women that president should be from women.
Speaking on the occasion, he suggested that Prime Minister KP Oli should not go on an India visit until the crisis of petroleum products is sorted out. If PM Oli goes on the India visit, it will send a negative message to the people, he added.
"PM should not visit India until the existing fuel crunch is resolved," he said, "The internal crisis of the country should be given first priority rather than the India visit."
