KATHMANDU, Jan 9: A mass protest has been organized at Maitighar Mandala against the detention of senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC. They chanted slogan for an immediate release of Dr KC.
Nepali Congress central member and former Health Minister Gagan Thapa said that they are also ready to be charged on contempt of court if they put their view on the independent and corruption-free judiciary.

Similarly, speaking at the same program, Rabindra Mishra of Bibeksheel Sajha Party urged the government to investigate the demands of Dr KC. He called the government for the immediate release of Dr KC citing that he did not have any intention of defaming the independent judiciary.
Supporters of Dr KC gathered at Maitighar and chanted slogan against the government demanding the immediate release of Dr KC. Former Prime Minister and coordinator of Naya Shakti Nepal Babu Ram Bhattarai was also present during the program.
