In a press statement issued on Thursday, the Maoist Center stated that it has taken note of the farmers' decision to stage a sit-in at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu.
The Maoist Center has stated that the government's act to decrease the support price of sugarcane was a disrespect to farmers as well as an anti-peasant and irresponsible act.
The party has urged the government to take the farmers' demands seriously and address all the genuine demands, asking the government to fix the support price for sugarcane and rework on the subsidy given in the sugarcane production by realising that the farmers are the backbone of the production system and the agriculture sector as a foundation of the national economy.
