JANAKPUR, Sept 11: Locals of the Fulgama village near Indian boarder in the district on Monday night beat up members of an Armed Police Force (APF) patrol on the charge of misbehaving with the village women and handed policemen over to Nepal Police.

The locals took three security personnel under their control blaming that they went inside a house and misbehaved with the woman. [break]Three APF patrol members Ramesh Sapkota, Dhan Bahadur Tamang and one whose name has yet to be ascertained had entered the house in the village.

Upon seeing the policemen inside her house, the woman was reportedly scared and cried for help. When villagers gathered at the house she said the policemen attempted to rape her. The villagers then beat up the policemen and handed them over to the police station at Baherabela.

A meeting between Nepal police personnel and locals on Tuesday agreed to let the APF personnel go after they apologized before the locals.

However the APF security personnel have denied having misbehaved with the woman or any other women in the village and said they visited the village and entered the house after tip off that goods smuggled from India was stored in the house.
