Import and distribution of fuel to be smooth within a week: NOC

KATHMANDU, Feb 15: The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has claimed that the import and distribution of petroleum products will become easier and smooth in a week, for which NOC is to ensure effective distribution system.

As the complaints from consumers surge from various quarters in connection to the non-availability of the petroleum products, the state oil monopoly is preparing to ensure a smooth supply of the same as in normal days, according to NOC Spokesperson Mukunda Prasad Ghimire.


Spokesperson Ghimire said that the petroleum products have come in big quantity on Friday, which amounts to 360,000 litres of petrol and 480,000 litres of diesel.

Similarly, 593,000 litres of petrol and 502,000 litres of diesel was imported to the country on Sunday.

The daily demand for petrol in the Kathmandu Valley is 350,000 litres on average.

A total of 2,000 kilograms of petroleum products were loaded from Rakshaul Customs Office on Friday, added Spokesperson Ghimire.

More supply of the same is expected on Monday.

Although the NOC has been stating the import of petroleum products has been increased lately, the scarcity of fuel continues to grapple in the country. RSS
