Mahara also said a Media Center will be built at the Office of the Prime Minister, Singhadurbar, in a bid to disseminate the government news to the media in a systematic manner. [break]
Meeting with the representatives of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), at his own office, Singhadurbar, on Sunday, Mahara said the donor agencies have shown their interests to assist in setting up the media training center.
"The government is positive to provide reliefs to the conflict-hit journalists, implement the Working Journalist Act, endorse the proportional advertisement policy and establish the journalist welfare fund including other issues", said Mahara.
He was of the opinion that policies on journalists´ welfare will be brought by studying the international practices in this regard.
He informed the journalists that the government was mulling over to bring media policy to systematize the entire media sector in the country.
During the meeting FNJ chairman Dharmendra Jha, vice chairman Govinda Acharya, general secretary Poshan KC, treasurer Ramesh Bista, central member duo Ujir Magar and Pramod Dahal, chairman of Minimum Wages Fixation Committee Mahendra Bista, secretary of FNJ Kathmandu Chapter Dipak Khanal, former chairman of FNJ, RSS chapter, Narayan Neupane and others were present.
