Govt facilities to be barred sans toilet at home

LAMJUNG, Feb 14: Locals of Jeeta Village Development Committee (VDC) in Lamjung district will not get the government services and facilities if they do not construct toilets at home within the 25th of this month.



The VDC took this decision in the run up to the day the VDC is all set to be declared as open-defecation-free. The VDC will be declared so on February 26.[break]



As per the decision of the VDC, all services and facilities provided by the local bodies would be stopped to people not constructing toilets at their homes ithin the stipulated time, said Krishna Prasad Upadhyay, coordinator of the VDC-level Sanitation Committee who is also the VDC Secretary.



One hundred and twenty-five houses in the VDC have still not constructed toilets.

People without toilets at home have started to construct one after this decision. The decision to this effect was taken by the all-party mechanism in the VDC.
