FNJ's journalism award to Nepal

KATHMANDU, March 27: Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) on Monday named senior journalist Kishore Nepal as the winner of the Krishna Prasad Bhattarai National Journalism Award.



The award, established in honor of FNJ’s first president and former Prime Minister Bhattarai, carried a purse of Rs. 100,000. [break]



“Senior journalist Nepal will be honored with the award for his contribution to the development of professional journalism and fight for press freedom during his four-decade long career,” a press release issued by FNJ read.



Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal will hand-over the award to Nepal on March 30 amidst a function. Nepal also headed FNJ for a two-year term.



A committee headed by FNJ former president Suresh Acharya and constituting Press Council chairman Narayan Prasad Sharma and FNJ general secretary Poshan KC nominated Nepal.
