Fire breaks out at scrap factory

A fire broke out today at RMB Plastic Packaging House, a scrap factory in Bosigaun, Chandragiri Municipality-10, Kathmandu. Pushpa Shrestha and Ramesh Podar jointly operate the factory.

KATHMANDU March 6: A fire broke out today at RMB Plastic Packaging House, a scrap factory in Bosigaun, Chandragiri Municipality-10, Kathmandu. Pushpa Shrestha and Ramesh Podar jointly operate the factory.


A team of 32 personnel from the Balaju Police Circle, Thankot Police Circle, and local police units responded to control the fire. Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohara, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, confirmed that they had brought the fire under control.

The Armed Police Force and locals also helped extinguish the blaze that completely destroyed the scrap factory, but officials have yet to assess the full extent of the damage, Bohara stated.


Authorities deployed seven fire engines and 15 water tankers to douse the fire. Fire brigades from Chandragiri Municipality, Bishalbazaar, Balaju, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Bhaktapur Municipality, Boudha Ramhiti, and Budhanilkantha Municipality participated in the operation, according to police.
