Electricity from Kabeli to reach National Grid in 1.5 months

According to project’s Public Relations Officer Meghnath Dhungana, if no unforeseen obstacles arise, both projects will be integrated into the national grid within the stipulated time frame.

TAPLEJUNG, Feb 2:  The 34 megawatts of electricity generated from the Kabeli River in Taplejung is set to be connected to the national transmission line in approximately one and a half months.  


This project includes 21.93 megawatts from the Kabeli-3 Cascade Hydropower Project, developed by Kabeli Hydropower Company Limited, and 12 megawatts from Hilton Hydro Energy Limited.

According to project’s Public Relations Officer Meghnath Dhungana, if no unforeseen obstacles arise, both projects will be integrated into the national grid within the stipulated time frame.  


“The construction is in its final stage. If everything goes as planned, the process for commercial electricity production will commence soon,” Dhungana said. He said that commercial production from Hilton Hydro Energy could begin in about a month, while Kabeli-3 Cascade Hydropower Project may take up to one and a half months.
