KATHMANDU, May 27: Two doctors of the Jorpati-based Nepal Medical College have been manhandled by a local of Besigaun in Kathmandu, after a patient they attended died while undergoing treatment. Doctors suspect that the patient could have been infected with COVID-19.
Following the death of a 54-year-old patient, his son manhandled two doctors alleging that he died due to carelessness on the part of doctors involved in his treatment. “The patient had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He was brought to the hospital at around six in the morning. The patient died while undergoing treatment at around 7 am,” Dr Gunjan Khadka told Republica

Dr Khadka said that the son of the deceased slapped two doctors -- Dr Shree Shrestha and Dr Rakesh Singh -- involved in the treatment. “First, he slapped the doctors. Then, he punched and kicked the two doctors. He even tried to hit the doctors with steel bars of the hospital,” said the doctor, adding that the hospital is in the process to form a committee to investigate the case.
