Dahal made the proposal to Baidya during their first meeting since the party´s split last month.
In response, Baidya told Dahal that an all-party roundtable assembly should be formed to resolve the current political stalemate, instead of discussing other alternatives to resolve the current political and constitutional crisis. Yet he told Dahal the issue of reinstatement can also be discussed.
"Chairman Dahal proposed us to forge a common position on CA reinstatement, arguing that is the only right solution to the current political crisis," said Dev Gurung, secretary of CPN-M, about the meeting between Dahal and Baidya.
Gurung further said, "But we told him (Dahal) that the roundtable assembly is a better option. CA reinstatement can also be discussed as around 80 percent of the disputed issues in constitution writing have already been settled."
Gurung further said that his party sees no prospect of reinstating the Constituent Assembly so long as Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai continues to remain in power.
During the meeting, Dahal also informed Baidya that the government was making preparations to introduce a full-fledged budget.
Dahal and Baidya also discussed ways to resolve the controversy surrounding their competing claims over the properties owned by the UCPN (Maoist) before the split. The leaders discussed the issue a week after their cadres clashed in Chitwan.
Gurung said both the parties have equal rights to the properties owned by the UCPN (Maoist).
