Court grants two-day remand for Shiv Sena Nepal President Basnet

The court has granted permission to keep Shiv Sena Nepal President Anil Basnet, who was arrested on charges of involvement in the pro-monarchy violent protest in Tinkune,  in custody for two days for investigation.

KATHMANDU, May 12: The court has granted permission to keep Shiv Sena Nepal President Anil Basnet, who was arrested on charges of involvement in the pro-monarchy violent protest in Tinkune,  in custody for two days for investigation.


According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Apilraj Bohora, spokesperson of the Kathmandu District Police Range, on Monday, the court approved the police's request to extend his detention.

He is being investigated on charges of criminal mischief. Authorities have stated that if further offenses are uncovered during the investigation, those charges will also be applied.


Police have alleged his involvement in the arson and vandalism that occurred in the Tinkune area on March 28.
