District Administration Office,Kathmandu, released the duo on bail after they furnished deposit of Rs 7,000 each.
Rajaram Thakuri aka Rohit, Kathmandu district chief of Maoist-affiliated Nepal Industrial Laborers´ Association, confirmed to myrepublica.com that two of the arrested workers of Balaju Industrial Area were released. He also said all industrial areas would resume operation from Tuesday.
Maoist-affiliated labor unions had forcefully shut down industrial areas in Balaju, Patan and Pokhara, demanding immediate release of Khadga Bahadur Tamang of Bara and Bikash Rai of Solukhumbu.
The duo, who work as loaders in different companies inside Balaju Industrial Area, were nabbed by police on August 2 for allegedly assaulting Giriraj Bhandari, chief of Industrial Area Management Limited (IAML). However, Maoists have been claiming that the duo was innocent and should be released immediately.
To exert pressure on the government, Maoists had closed down Balaju Industrial Area on August 3. After the government denied to release the duo, the Maoist-affiliated trade union had closed down Lalitpur Industrial Area on Friday and Pokhara Industrial Area on Sunday.
