Chicken meat prices soar as consumption rises; Consumer price reaches Rs 350 per kg

The price of broiler chicken has increased by Rs 10 per kg, reaching Rs 250 per kg. The consumer price of processed meat has risen from Rs 335 to Rs 350 per kg, with some stores charging up to Rs 360 per kg. Prices are not uniform and vary by location.


In Shrawan, a 50% reduction in meat consumption led to a price drop, but as demand increased in Bhadra, prices have started to rise again. Generally, over 500,000 kg of chicken meat is consumed daily across the country.
