The arrested have been identified as Bhim Tamang, 17, of Hetauda-3 of Makwanpur, Anil BK,18, of Pangtang-7 of Sindhupalchowk and Gautam Thing, 19 of Hetauda.
According to DSP Narahari Regmi, chief of the Metropolitan Police Circle Office, Bauddha, the three along with other members of their gang had been involved in looting lonely people by injuring them with sharp weapons, stones and bricks.
"In all six cases reported in the last 45 days, the three among other suspects, looted personnel belongings and cash from the victims by injuring them," DSP Regmi said during a press conference at the police office in Bauddha.
Among their victims, Rabi Gurung, 24 of Khaireni, Chitwan has been seriously injured and is undergoing treatment at the TUTH, Maharajgunj. The three had robbed Rs 45,000 from Gurung after attacking him with Khukuri at around 7:30 pm on January 15.
Similarly, a carpenter Subodh Sharma, 45, originally from India, Guru Bhote, 22, of Sankhuwasabha, Santosh Khadka, 21 of Budhanilkantha, Karma Bangel Lama, 32 of Tinchuli Bauddha and Bishnu Prasad Ghimire, 57 of Nawalparasi were attacked and looted by the three in separate incidents in the past few weeks.
"The arrested had been absconding for long even after we had some clues about them," the police said, adding that few others involved in the cases were yet to be determined. Police had seized a khukuri, a metal rod and four mobile sets from their possession.
