KATHMANDU, Sept 20: The 17th Hero Hits FM Music Awards 2070 kicked off with a special musical presentation by Kutumba, the folk ensemble, and Hari Maharjan, the Gypsy Jazz guitarist, who blended their distinctive musical styles to fine perfection. The award show was held at Nepal Army Officers’ Club in Bhadrakali on Friday.



Hits FM took the opportunity to honor the late Jhalak Man Gandharva, one of the most respected folk singers of the country, at the event. Karna Gandharva, performed his father’s evergreen Aamale sodhlin for the audience and the entire Gandharva family in attendance. [break]



Singing their nominated songs were artists like Bishnu Chemjong, Bhoj Raj Kafle, Pramod Kharel and Manoj Raj. The audience was also treated to performances by Rusty Nails, What the funk-We Are Soul’d Out, Sangeeta Rana Pradhan and Rajina Rimal.



Hits FM Music Awards presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to veteran composer and singer CK Rasaili. He expressed his surprise and delight at the honor and said, “I’m speechless with happiness. More so as this award is being presented to me at the Army Officers’ Club where I worked for many years.”



The Sasto Productions videos charmed everyone present and elicited laughter.



Concluding the event on a sweet note was the eight-member band of Joint Family Internationale who took home three awards. The band members, in colorful red, green and yellow waistcoats, entertained the audience with their popular number Netaji.
