Nardevi Bhatta, 79, of Bhattagaun of Masel-2 in Gorkha district reached the sacred site of Gosainkunda in the high hills of Rasuwa district after an 18-hours uphill climb along with her two sons. She also took a dip in the pond and worshipped, said the family members. [break]
Her eldest son said, "The mother expressed her strong desire to visit Gosainkunda, but we told her that it would be difficult to reach the shrine in the high mountain, but the mother told both of us to company her". "I will reach the heaven if I die while we walk with you to the sacred site", he quoted the mother as saying, adding "therefore, we brought her here."
They reached Dhunche after seven hours from Gorkha as they were fearing while obeying the mother. They reached the shrine at an altitude of 14,100 ft. and took a dip in the pond.
"She fulfilled her desire of a lifetime, we have urged all devotees to fulfill the desires of the elderly", he said. Mother Nardevi also urged all to fulfill such desires of parents.
Meanwhile, many pilgrims coming to Gosainkunda have suffered from high altitude sickness. Some 3,500 people faced the problem out of some 6,000 pilgrims who came, said Chief of District Health Chief Dr. Ramesh Kharel. Nineteen people were treated by the Himalayan Rescue Association and Nepal Army doctors team and the District Hospital, others returned with minor treatment.
Likewise, people have started to return home after the Gosainkunda pilgrimage on the occasion of the Janai Purnima festival. The passengers were assisted by Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (APF).
